Items for Recycling or Reuse

The North Transfer Station accepts more items than in previous years. The following items are accepted at no charge in the new Recycling và Reuse Building.

Donate Reusable Items

Goodwill is our partner for collecting reusable goods. These items are accepted:

Clothing và linens in good condition or worn out. No wet items.Electronics, including televisions, computers, monitors, & small electronicsSmall furniture in good condition. (Large furniture is not accepted.)Household items in good condition, such as dishware, books, và gamesBicycles

All items for donation will be inspected by a Goodwill representative sầu on-site prior khổng lồ being accepted for donation. Items not accepted for donation can be disposed (for a fee) at the transfer station.

Recycle

Scrap metal, cans, plastic and glass bottles và jars, paper and cardboard are accepted. For a fuller list of accepted recyclable items, see the Where Does it Go? flyer.

Recycling và Reuse Building location

The Recycling và Reuse Building is on the right as you enter the Transfer Station. Drive sầu past the pay booths & turn right into lớn the building. The operating hours are the same as the North Transfer Station.

Education & Viewing Room

The Education Room, located on the second floor of the North Transfer Station office building, overlooks daily operations on the "tipping floor" below. The room features interactive sầu exhibits that answer questions about recycling và compost, a 10-foot by 5-foot scale model with toy cars lớn "drive" through the transfer station, a Model compactor, photos of garbage collection over the past 100 years, và more.

The Education and Viewing Room is open during station hours & is ADA-accessible. All groups and classes are welcome to lớn visit, but the space will remain open lớn the public. The room is not available for events. No food or beverages are allowed.

The station is designed to lớn handle up lớn 750 tons per day as healthforinsure.com’s population grows.Traffic: The new station now has two inbound & three outbound scales, long queuing lanes, and a larger tipping floor to lớn accommodate over 50 vehicles in line on site and reduce traffic congestion in the neighborhood.Community: East of the new facility, SPU created an open space that not only buffers the adjacent neighbors from the station, but also includes a play area for children, a sports court, an open lawn, walkways, and static exercise stations.
